About this event
Please read below!
"It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year......"
This year the criteria for your book should be a book you read from the last 5 years. It doesn't have to have been published within those 5 years, just a book that you read between 2022 to 2026 that you can't wait for someone else to read.
• BUY your favorite book from the above criteria and wrap it up. Do not put your name on it. Please only bring ONE Book. Or if you are generous and want to gift two, it must be contained in one gift bag or box along with the socks.
• BUY a pair of Fuzzy socks to gift. Who doesn't love to curl up on a cold evening with a book and some fuzzy socks! Make sure to bag it up with your book.
I am opening this up in case you want to bring a friend with you. But they have to abide by the above rules. Be sure to keep your RSVP's up to date.
The tradition is known as Jolabokaflod , which translates roughly to " Christmas book flood" in English. Jolabokaflod started during World War II, when paper was one of the few things not rationed in Iceland. Because of this, Icelanders gave books as gifts while other commodities were in short supply, turning them into a country of bookaholics to this day, according to [jolabokaflod.org ]( https://jolabokaflod.org/about/founding-story/ ).
