The Chandler Chamber of Commerce, Gila River Indian Community and city officials announced that beginning with its 36th edition the Ostrich Festival will move to Rawhide Western Town & Event Center, located off I-10 and Wild Horse Pass Boulevard southwest of Chandler, to support its continued growth.
Local customers convinced owner Gilbert Meraz not to close Rita’s Burritos at 4040 S.
Arizona Ave. in South Chandler; after receiving a flood of texts and calls, he will continue to run the restaurant for at least five more years (with transition plans underway).
Chandler Unified’s Governing Board named superintendent finalists Lana Berry, Anna Battle, and Ibi Haghighat on Saturday, Jan.
24 (none will need to travel for final interviews) as they will appear at campus and community forums on Wednesday, Jan. 28 in Chandler.
The Arizona Department of Transportation will impose overnight lane restrictions on I-10 near Chandler (Wild Horse Pass Corridor) for earth work between Jan.
25 and Jan. 31. Westbound lanes will be limited to one lane each night from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on select segments.
The Planning & Zoning Commission endorsed Chandler’s updated General Plan on Jan.
21; City Council will review it on Feb. 5 with voter ratification planned on Aug. 4 if approved. This week also brings local award ceremonies, community events, and planning meetings for a busy city agenda.
