ECONOMY NEWS

  • Chandler will host a Youth Career Event for job seekers ages 17–24 at the Downtown Chandler Public Library (Copper Rooms) from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25, where local employers will offer entry-level, part-time, and work-based learning opportunities.  Chandler Independent

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Luke Hickey, principal of Chief Hill, said the academy — moving toward official alternative school status — will gain accreditation and host the ICAN program on its McQueen campus for 2026-27. He spoke at the Feb. 11 Chandler Unified study session.  Chandler Independent
  • The Queen Creek, Chandler, Gilbert and Mesa chambers will host the 2026 Regional Business and Education Summit to discuss workforce challenges. The event runs from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27 at Chandler-Gilbert Community College, Agave Room + 2626 E. Pecos Road and costs $15.  Chandler Independent
  • Chandler girl Melissa Costa, now in seventh grade at Basha Accelerated Middle School, has self-published her adventure novel (Escape Gravestone Caverns) after turning a class project into a book. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • ADOT announced 12 finalists in its Name-A-Snowplow Contest Wednesday during a heavy winter storm. Arizonans can vote online for their four favorite names by Feb. 24 (the contest drew over 2,300 entries) so the winners appear on snowplow cabs.  KTAR

  • The Downtown Chandler Farmers Market will host Love Your Pet Market on Saturday, Feb. 21 at Dr. A.J. Chandler Park West and East Ramadas, 3 S.
