  • Chandler residents will join Mayor Kevin Hartke in a 7.8-mile bike ride along the Paseo Trail on Saturday, Apr. 11 at the Park and Ride lot with check-in at 7:30 a.m. Riders will enjoy bike decorating stations, free face painting, and Kona Ice at finish — pre-registration is required online.  City of Chandler
  • Chandler’s free Family Easter Celebration is set for Friday, April 3 at Dr. A.J. Chandler Park: Stage Plaza from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Families with children under ten can join an egg hunt on the new 24 Karrot Trail, play carnival games, and enter a drawing for an Easter Basket.  City of Chandler

  • Thiru Kuppusamy opened his chain restaurant at the southeast corner of Alma School and Chandler Heights in south Chandler, offering South Indian dishes like chicken + mutton + paneers, curries, masala and Madurai; it is the chain's sixth U.S. location after starting in India more than 60 years ago.  Chandler Independent

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Gallery at Chandler Center for the Arts presents (Be) Longing, an exhibition featuring work by four Japanese American artists that explores cultural identity, nostalgia and belonging. The show will run through April 18.  Chandler Independent

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Five Chandler Unified campuses will have their aging flooring replaced in the coming months after the board approved three bond-funded contracts for $1.5 million at its Feb. 25 meeting (using funds from a $271.5 million bond approved by voters last November).  Chandler Independent
  • Six Chandler Unified schools earned the A+ School of Excellence designation from the Arizona Educational Foundation, representing 12.5% of the state’s awards, and the district will celebrate the achievement on April 17.  Chandler Arizonan

  • The Cardinals informed quarterback Kyler Murray he will be released on March 11 as the team begins its new league year. Murray spent seven seasons with the team and will soon be free to sign with another club.  KJZZ
