The Chandler Museum has a new exhibit, 'Being Eddie Basha,' that opened yesterday and features interactive telephone recordings and a 3,800 sqft installation exploring the grocer’s legacy + philanthropy.
Prized tribal baskets are to be loaned from the Heard Museum and added to the display early next year.

Chandler Fire Chief Tom Dwiggins updated City Council on Feb.
26 on the opioid response program, using March 2025 data and settlement funds to care for overdose victims. He said better ties with Dignity Health (including insurance details) are planned to improve the program further.
🏥 Health
Newsweek and Statista released the World’s Best Hospitals 2026 rankings, placing Chandler Regional Medical Center at 338 among 2,530 hospitals (including 420 U.S. facilities).
The list evaluates global hospital performance using quality metrics.
Researchers at the Desert Research Institute and NASA will study wildfire smoke effects on health using satellite data after securing a $1.3 million grant.
The study will begin in Nevada and later expand to other states including Arizona + could improve forecasts and public communication about hazards.
