- ➤ Animal lovers in Chandler can adopt a dog for free as AAWL waived fees for dogs aged 1 year or older at its Phoenix shelter at 25 N. 40th St+ the donation-funded offer began on Tuesday. The free adoption includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, a microchip with free lifetime updates, online training, and 20% off future classes+ the promotion will run until every dog finds a home. - ➤ Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke invites residents to join the 17th annual Chandler Family Bike Ride on Saturday along the Paseo Trail. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Park & Ride lot at 2100 S. Hamilton St.—riders must wear helmets and pre-register online—and free T-shirts and Kona Ice will be given when supplies last. Chandler Independent
- ➤ Phoenix Mercury legend Bridget Pettis is using her farm and basketball know-how to mentor local kids—she teaches practical lessons and fosters teamwork—staying rooted in the Valley. 12 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety awarded a $45,510 grant to the Chandler Fire Department to continue its child safety seat clinics and provide free car seats for families through Sept. 30—next clinics are scheduled for April 12 and 19 at the Public Safety Center. The department’s certified technicians will run the sessions to help ensure children are safely secured during car rides. City of Chandler
- ➤ The City of Chandler’s HOA Academy held an online session on April 2 and will offer three more sessions on April 9, 16 and 23 to educate residents and board members on association rules.
