- ➤ The City of Chandler’s Golden Neighbors program will host a free physical health event for golden residents from 9:30-11 a.m. on Thursday, April 17 at Tumbleweed Recreation Center, Cotton Room South, 745 E. Germann Road—this event celebrates National Take a Walk Day by offering an indoor walk, a tour of the facility, and free pedometers with a goals chart—residents must RSVP by Tuesday, April 15. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The City of Chandler marks Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month each May with a free AAPI Community Connection event on April 30 from 4:45 to 8 p.m. at Phoenix Palace Restaurant for Chandler residents (registration required). Additional activities include a museum exhibit on Japanese American internment and a family-friendly event honoring Vietnamese veterans on Saturday, April 26 at City Hall. City of Chandler
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bill Lamoreaux with ADOT said the federally compliant travel IDs must be obtained by May 7 — travelers should plan to apply two to three weeks before flying. Other federal IDs including passports, tribal or military cards are accepted — REAL IDs cost $25 and are valid for eight years. KJZZ

- ➤ Today, Homewatch CareGivers of Chandler Sun Lakes announced it is offering the Memory Lane Games app to help families and caregivers support people with Alzheimer’s and dementia. The interactive app was developed with healthcare professionals to boost memory and reduce stress + it is the first app of its kind in the area and is recognized by the Mayo Clinic and Google Play. - ➤ The Arizona Department of Health Services launched the Healthy Horizons video series to encourage childhood vaccinations and address low immunization rates among kindergartners. The series was developed with partners (the Arizona Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Arizona Partnership for Immunization) and comes as the CDC reported an 8.5% exemption rate compared to the national 3.3% (data shows the gap in local protection).
