- ➤ A Taiwan amusement company called Taroko Sports will open a new baseball gaming venue at (865 N. 54th St.) in Chandler where fans can try high-tech batting cages and interactive games. The venue is part of a plan that includes another location in Mesa and follows a recent launch in Texas to bring a new family-friendly sports experience to the area. Chandler Arizonan
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ West-MEC will hold a ribbon cutting for its new Southwest Campus — hosting Automation and Robotics and IT Security programs — on April 17. The event will mark a milestone as updated programs will soon support students. Chandler Independent
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Chandler City Council voted Thursday to ban camping on public property and to limit stays at bus stops by making it a Class 1 misdemeanor to set up tents near schools or store belongings after a warning. City officials said the new rules will help law enforcement and service providers assist individuals in need—improving transit stop maintenance. 12 News
- ➤ The Chandler Council voted to approve a $4.73 million park project on April 11, moving the long-planned plan forward. City officials said they will start planning soon to finish the park that will give local people more green space. Chandler Independent
- ➤ Chandler City Council approved contracts on April 10 for the Water Main Replacement Project that will replace about 12,600 linear feet of water mains in Tyson Manor and Sunset Manor to improve water distribution between Alma School Road and Hartford Street and Chandler Boulevard and Galveston Street. The project is part of the city's Capital Improvement Program to update aging water infrastructure. City of Chandler
- ➤ Chandler City Council held a work session yesterday to review a Resident Bond Exploratory Committee’s $475 million recommendation for funding streets, parks, fire, and police improvements without raising property taxes—Council members will vote on April 24 on calling a special election on Nov. 4 for the bond proposal.
