  • Chandler businessman Tim Estenson, 67, recounted his struggle with alcoholism in his teens and his rise to build a trucking and logistics company worth millions in his new autobiography On Rails: From Alcoholism to a Multi Million Dollar Brand — where he also explained how his passion for flat-track motorcycle racing spurred him to form a competitive team and open a local motorcycle museum.   • Chandler Center for the Arts announced its 2025-26 season and will offer performances by Josh Turner, Nathan Chester & The Old Souls Motown Revival among other acts. Tickets are now on sale for members who can secure preferred seats by contacting the box office.  Chandler Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Chandler City Council approved a $4.4 million agreement with SmithGroup, Inc. to design a new forensic services facility for the Chandler Police Department on city-owned land at 576 W. Pecos Rd. The project, which is part of a multi-year plan to expand local forensic capabilities, will see construction begin in fiscal year 2026-2027 — the new facility is set to improve evidence transfers.  City of Chandler
  • Chandler City Council met yesterday to review plans for development in historic Southside Village and to improve Washington Street—council members examined past studies, community input, and options such as realigning Washington Street with Pecos Road, and they will consider an updated Downtown Region Area Plan later this summer.  City of Chandler
  • Chandler was named a winner in the Smart Cities North America Awards for its six-month Real-Time Instant Language Assistant pilot from 2024 that handled over 560 live language translation interactions. City leaders approved funding for 60 new devices over the next three years—promising better translation services for all residents.  City of Chandler
  • Today, a section of eastbound I-10 between US 60 and Loop 202 is closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday for drainage work & lane striping as part of the Broadway Curve improvement project. Other closures include several ramp and roadway shutdowns starting Friday night on I-10, Loop 202, and Loop 101 with detour routes available.  Chandler Independent
  • Chandler City Council approved the wording for four bond questions that will appear on the November ballot to ask voters about a property tax extension. The decision was made on April 24th—unanimously by the council.  Chandler Independent
