  • A three-year-old boy is in critical condition after being pulled from a backyard pool on the 5000 block of East Elmwood Place near Chandler Heights and Gilbert roads — police found him unconscious and firefighters performed CPR — he is now at Chandler Regional Hospital.  12 News
  • Chandler police said a vehicle crashed into a pole and caught fire near Dobson Road and Highland Street on Sunday evening—rescue crews removed the occupant who later died.  12 News

  • Phoenix Rising Investments and Willmeng completed the AMPlify project today by turning a vacant building at 6505 W. Chandler Blvd. into a high-tech manufacturing facility featuring 200,000 square feet and a 50—megawatt SRP substation set to host Honeywell as its key tenant.  Chandler Independent
  • Microchip Technology Inc. made progress on its turnaround plan during an earnings call on Thursday—CEO Steve Sanghi detailed a nine-point strategy that refined distribution, re-engaged customers, closed the Tempe facility, and cut costs by laying off 10% of the workforce.   • The Arizona Legislature passed the House vote on a bill that would make teachers liable for civil damages if they promote antisemitism. The measure now awaits a final Senate vote amid concerns from education advocates—officials said its broad definition may limit classroom discussions.  KJZZ
  • Chandler Unified's Governing Board met for nearly four hours May 7 and approved fee increases when it cast votes on two budget procedural measures and a consent agenda — decisions that will affect upcoming school budgets.  Chandler Independent

  • Gov. Katie Hobbs signed Preston’s Law on Monday to change Arizona’s aggravated assault rule to include any attack by a person joined by two or more helpers. The law, sponsored by Rep. Matt Gress, adds a presumptive sentence of two and a half years for future cases—ensuring that violent group assaults face tougher penalties.  12 News
  • A new Arizona law now gives border sheriffs the authority to shoot down drones used by Mexican cartels to transport drugs as House Bill 2733 was signed on May 12—officials say the measure comes after a surge in drone-facilitated fentanyl drops. AG Kris Mayes added that law enforcement will soon use drone jamming technology funded by RICO funds to block these drones.  KJZZ
