  • Downtown Chandler will host an All-American Bash on July 4 with a 15-minute pyrotechnic show at 8:15 p.m. at the Dr. A.J. CULTURE NEWS

  • Chandler Center for the Arts will host the Stay Cool Free Summer Concert Series on Friday nights in July and August inside its air-conditioned Steena Murray Mainstage where local musicians like RINO, Painted Soul, Christie Huff, Jácome Flamenco “Baile” and AJ Odneal will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sponsored by Intel and supported by AARP Arizona, the free series requires RSVP—seating is allotted on a first-come basis.  Chandler Independent

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Chandler officials announced a partnership with ASU to conduct a 20-year study of the city’s economic future — funded by the Chandler Industrial Development Authority without using city money. The project will start this summer and its report will be finished by early 2026.  KTAR
  • Arizona Public Service filed an application with the ACC to raise power rates by 14% if approved, which would make customer bills higher in the second half of 2026. The utility says the increase will cover $2 billion spent each year to support the grid — and help large customers pay for future power needs.  KTAR

  • Arizona lawmakers are running out of time to pass a new state budget—key proposals on funding and services await debate before the deadline hits.  12 News
  • APS applied for a 14% rate increase—adding about $20 to a typical monthly bill—and the new rates will take effect in the second half of 2026. Attorney General Kris Mayes said she plans to intervene to block the hike because she finds it outrageous amid rising costs.  12 News
  • Attorney General Kris Mayes said she will oppose APS's request to raise rates by 14% in mid-2026, which would add around $20 each month to bills — she described the proposal as an effort by utility executives to increase profits at the expense of consumers.  KJZZ
