Eagle Scouts from Troop 285 in Chandler traveled to Washington (D.C.) this summer and placed a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to honor national sacrifices ahead of America’s 250th birthday.

Chandler residents Cruz Monreal and Zan Saleem were selected for the 2026-27 Empowering Diversity Scholarship through a partnership between Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona and the Fiesta Sports Foundation — the award provides $87,500 in financial support and educational services to 20 local students, including the two Arizona College Prep High School alumni.

A judge ruled June 30 that EVIT cannot control how nine school districts use state vocational funds after disputes over CTE funding, leaving student transportation still unsettled (districts had until June 29 to respond).

Chandler Unified and eight other school districts won a June 29 court ruling that stops EVIT from reducing funds for career and technical education satellite programs.

The decision means students can keep taking classes at local high schools rather than traveling to EVIT sites.
