Blue Star Mothers of the Southwest Valley Chapter accepted a symbolic check and $1,500 from Julian Wyatt, Commander of the Jewish War Veterans Copper State Post 619 in Chandler.

The donation supports families of military personnel.

At the Chandler Unified Governing Board meeting on July 8, two parents voiced concern that an expired transportation agreement + a court battle over funding are leaving nearly 250 high school students traveling to EVIT Mesa campuses without district-provided buses for the school year.

The Chicago White Sox selected UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky as the first pick in Saturday’s MLB amateur draft; he played at Hamilton High School and was a Golden Spikes finalist at UCLA with 21 homers and 60 RBIs in his junior season (he is 6-foot-2 and right-handed).
