Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne said his department will use state money to cover a $70,000 gap from delayed federal funds for school resource officers—keeping all officer positions intact while reviews continue.

He added that the current school safety program will maintain these roles as the federal review process goes on.

At a July 14 meeting, Chandler’s mayor and City Council honored city employees and partners for their work on the real-time language assistance pilot program that earned the International Data Corporation Smart Cities Award.

The program improved communication in over 20 city divisions + boosted residents’ access to services + set a model for future projects.
