- ➤ Yuxuan Jiang, a 15-year-old student at Arizona College Prep, was named a youth ambassador by the World Literacy Foundation on July 17 to promote reading and writing in Chandler. She already leads local reading workshops and will join youth from 90 countries in advocating for better education—she hopes to amplify young voices in policy and community action. - ➤ The Chandler Unified School District board voted on July 9 to raise the adjacent ways tax from .0482 to .0954 and collect $4 million for road improvements near Weinberg Gifted Academy as rising traffic by car has raised safety concerns—$2.5 million will fund a new roadway and $1.5 million will repair road easements.
