BUSINESS NEWS

  • Toyota Financial Services expanded its Chandler office by leasing an additional 40,000 square feet and now occupies the entire 120,000-square-foot building at 1650 S. Price Road — this move supports plans for increased in-office teamwork and reflects the company’s long-term commitment to the local market. CRIME NEWS

  • Chandler Police arrested Claudio Hernandez Perez after stopping a vehicle near I-10 and Riggs Road on July 29th (7:15 p.m.) when officers found bags of onions hiding almost 400 pounds of methamphetamine, and he now faces charges for transporting a dangerous drug with help from Arizona DPS and Homeland Security Investigations.  Chandler Independent
  • Three East Valley men received prison terms and were ordered to pay restitution—two in the seven figures—for their role in a telemarketing scam that defrauded over 1,000 victims of more than $10M from 2014 to 2019. Richard Kuhlmann Jr. got 42 months, Brian Hopkins got 21 months, and David Bartlett got 24 months for charges including mail fraud and money laundering.  Chandler Arizonan

  • At a special Chandler City Council meeting on July 28, all seven council members approved an ordinance that lets the city remove illegal temporary signs from public rights-of-way—each sign must display the name and phone number of the posting party, a change urged by Mayor Kevin Hartke citing critical timing.  Chandler Independent
  • Maricopa County District 1 Supervisor Mark Stewart will host a free Ted Talk event on Aug. 29 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Student Union of ASU Prep near Mesa Gateway Airport that focuses on teen safety, featuring talks by experts like Arizona DPS gang detective Julio Chavez and digital wellness advocate Katey McPherson as well as a public policy Q&A panel.  Chandler Independent
