- ➤ Kyrene de la Sierra Elementary School closed its campus Sunday after air tests found high particulate levels during roof construction & officials stressed that safety came first. - ➤ Canyon Springs STEM Academy in Deer Valley Unified School District taught eighth graders about AI bias as part of a new push for ethical AI use—administrators are training teachers with hands-on strategies and secure tools while the state supports partnerships with companies like Canvas and Khanmigo. - ➤ Angelica Abbey, a sixth-grade teacher at Frye Elementary in Chandler, is among 10 semifinalists for the Arizona Educational Foundation’s Teacher of the Year award to be announced on Oct. 18—she has also been recognized in previous contests and by the Chandler Chamber of Commerce.
