Chandler Unified School District is reviewing a judge’s decision that state government is not providing necessary funds for school improvements, and district leaders are taking time to analyze the ruling’s impact — the decision may signal a change in Arizona school funding practices.

Chandler City Council approved a $350,000 contract on Thursday to hire The Pigeon Guy for one-year cleaning and abatement services that will reduce pigeon nesting at downtown spots such as the Main Library, City Hall, police garage, Chandler Center for the Arts, and Oregon Parking Garage+ city officials will compare data before and after the work to see if the measures ease property damage and public health concerns.

Chandler Acting City Manager John Pombier announced that Leah Powell and Ryan Peters have been promoted to Deputy City Manager positions to address complex issues such as housing and infrastructure.

Powell has worked for the city since 1996 and Peters has been with Chandler since 2016—both will expand their roles in managing city operations.
