BUSINESS NEWS

  • Simpson Strong-Tie, a supplier of structural building materials, is expanding its Chandler operations for the third time with a 67,000-square-foot lease at 2850 S. Cooper Road in the Chandler Airport Business Park—this facility will include a training center, small manufacturing unit, and warehouse space. The company plans to open the site later this fall and be fully operational by the start of 2026—adding new jobs to its current 12-person team.  Chandler Independent

EDUCATION NEWS

  • EVIT and nine public school districts have been in a legal fight over a new agreement that will change funding and control of satellite career and technical education programs—districts secured a one-month extension while talks continue before the current deal ends on Aug 31. The dispute centers on proposed payment cuts and tighter oversight that district lawyers say disregards their needs for quality programs.  Chandler Arizonan

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Chandler’s Neighborhood Programs Office is restarting the free Good Neighbor 101 program on Sept. 3 at the ASU Chandler Innovation Center, where four 90-minute sessions will cover topics like neighborhood programs, economic development, park maintenance, and water quality. Residents who attend all sessions will be entered to win $500 for their next community event—providing a chance to learn about local services and resources.  Chandler Independent
  • The Chandler Unified School District board is set to meet Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 1525 W. Frye Road — the board will review a draft political agenda and approve its fiscal 2026 capital plan as study sessions begin at 4:30 p.m.  Chandler Independent

  • A Chandler apartment complex on West Joshua Boulevard—near Ray and Rural roads—sold for $109.5 million as Country Brook Partners bought it from MG Properties. The 396-unit complex built in 1996 and featuring amenities such as pools, spas, and a fitness center was purchased seven years ago for $74 million and has changed hands for the fourth time since 2013.  Chandler Arizonan
