Nominations are in for Mayor’s Neighborhood Excellence Awards with five Chandler neighborhoods (Carriage Lane, Dobson Place, Sun Groves, Tyson Manor, Willis Ranch) competing for the People’s Choice award; votes close 5 p.m. Monday, Aug.
28, with the winner announced at the G.A.I.N. kick-off on Saturday, Sept. 19.
🚧 Accidents
Chandler fire crews report a toddler is in critical condition after being pulled from a pool near Alma School and Pecos roads; family members immediately started CPR before the child was taken to a hospital.

Lomas Cocina de Mexico opens in downtown Chandler in the former LOOK Cinemas building at the southwest corner of Arizona Avenue and Chandler Boulevard (Padeland’s paddle and pickleball club now occupies the rest).
The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with chilaquiles, enchiladas and crafted cocktails.
