A former professional football player accused a Chandler officer of falsifying a report and advising a woman in his custody dispute—actions he says led to a revoked diversion agreement and job loss, prompting him to file a $1.3 million claim on July 3.
The Chandler Fire Department is offering free emergency preparedness classes on Sept.
13 and Sept. 20 at the Chandler Public Safety Training Center—each session runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.—to teach fire safety, utility control, light search and rescue and basic medical care for emergencies.
Chandler is planning a new memorial at Veterans Oasis Park that will honor local veterans—city council members debated whether to include only veterans with ties to Chandler or also regional names.

The filing clarifies questions about Hartke’s eligibility that had been widely discussed.
A Chandler teen has developed a robotic arm device—designed to make rehabilitation more accessible and affordable for stroke patients.
The innovation will soon be tested to see if it can improve stroke recovery for local patients.
Padeland, a 35,000-square-foot venue, is set to open in fall at the former LOOK Dine-In Cinema on Chandler Boulevard and Arizona Avenue.
The facility will feature four padel courts, five pickleball courts, a full-scale craft brewery and taproom—plus a restaurant, coffee bar and wellness amenities.
