- ➤ Maricopa County District 1 Supervisor and former Chandler City Council member Mark Stewart will host a free teen safety event—Stronger Together: Safe Minds, Safe Communities—on Friday, Aug. 29 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at ASU Prep’s Student Union near Mesa Gateway Airport, where law enforcement, wellness advocates and public policy experts will discuss strategies to support teen safety. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A Chandler Police report shows that 3-year-old Trigg Kiser drowned in his family's pool on May 12 when his father, Brady Kiser, was watching a basketball game while supervising him—Trigg was later taken to the hospital and died about six days afterward. Chandler Independent

- ➤ DPC Companies hosted a groundbreaking event for Chandler Innovation Park, a three-building industrial park that offers 327,776 square feet of flexible Class A space on a 21-acre site at Arizona Avenue and Ryan Road—located in the heart of the Airpark Area. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Chandler police officers shot and killed Enrique Lopez Gress near Pecos and McQueen roads on Thursday after he fled a reported break-in call—he was carrying an AK-47 with a drum magazine and a handgun, and his car held additional weapons, body armor, ammunition, drugs and cash while he was pronounced dead at the scene. - ➤ Friends of Chandler Public Library received a $100,000 gift from its support group on Aug. 26 to fund early reading, adult literacy and digital resources at its four branches for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. City of Chandler

- ➤ The City of Chandler issued a service schedule for Labor Day, Sept. 1 — administrative offices, libraries, the recycling center, several community centers, the museum, and arts venues will be closed while trash and recycling continue; Tumbleweed Recreation Center and Chandler Tennis Center will operate at limited hours.
