- ➤ Kyrene School District plans to close two middle and four elementary schools next school year if its board approves the Long Range Planning Committee recommendation at its Sept. 16 meeting. - ➤ Nila Sathyan, a Chandler resident and Desert Vista High School graduate, will receive a $10K scholarship from Cox Communications to study biology at Arizona State University. The award shows Cox's support for local students—helping them pursue higher education. Chandler Independent
