  • Residents who shop at Chandler Fashion Center help East Valley schools earn up to $3,000 with the SchoolCents program — as every purchase earns points for schools during receipt submissions from July 1 to March 31. Participating schools include Corona del Sol High School and Kyrene District campuses — and the program has awarded over $293,000 since 2008.  Chandler Independent
  • Downtown Chandler Farmers Market will run Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dr. A.J. Chandler Park West and is hosted by the Downtown Chandler Community Partnership, offering fresh produce, artisan goods, food truck fare, live music, and themed days like Sunflower Saturday—where the first 50 shoppers get a free sunflower.  Chandler Arizonan

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kyrene School District Superintendent spoke with Allison Rodriguez about possible school closures — decisions remain under review and updates will be provided as plans are finalized.  12 News
  • On Sept. 10, the Chandler Unified School District board approved a partnership with the city’s Economic Development department and will contribute $10,000 for a marketing campaign + designed to attract young families and professionals to settle locally.  Chandler Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Google and SRP announced a project to test long-duration energy storage that will help Arizona’s grid be more reliable and support renewable power. The partners will fund and study pilot tests of non-lithium technology that may speed cleaner energy solutions—supporting SRP’s net-zero goal and Google’s drive for carbon-free operations.  KTAR
  • Six East Valley school districts joined with Queen Creek Unified to legally challenge EVIT's plan to cut funds for tech education that serves about 24,000 students. On Tuesday the QCUSD board voted to let lawyer Osborn Maledon take action if the agency changes the funding deal in the future — a move to protect student programs.  Chandler Independent
  • Gov. Hobbs signed an executive order expanding COVID-19 vaccine access statewide by directing the health department and pharmacy board to set a standing order for administering updated vaccines. The measure follows FDA approval of the new shots for seniors and instructs health plans to continue covering the vaccine—ensuring access for all who want them.  12 News
