- ➤ Dozens of community members, friends and family gathered in downtown Chandler Tuesday to honor Preston Lord on what would have been his 18th birthday after he died following an attack at a Halloween party in 2023—new state laws, local ordinances and law enforcement outreach programs have since aimed to prevent teen violence, with a memorial walk scheduled for Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. ABC 15

- ➤ Brewer Science opened its Arizona Innovation Center in Chandler on Sept 23 to boost work with semiconductor customers and tap local talent. The new office and lab at 145 S. 79th St.—which will shorten the gap between research and manufacturing—shows the company’s commitment to keeping innovation at home. City of Chandler

- ➤ Chandler's Rawhide Western Town will host Apocalypse Rawhide from Oct. 3 to Nov. 1, where groups of four to six deputy sheriffs use irShotguns to blast simulated zombies. The outdoor event features food trucks, a new gift shop and an LED pumpkin music show — tickets cost $39 for general admission and $59 for VIP. KTAR
- ➤ Rocktoberfest with the theme 'Beer, Brats and Bon Jovi' will take place at A.J. Chandler Park's east lawn and stage on Oct. 3 and Oct. 4. - ➤ On Sept. 11, Chandler City Council unanimously approved a $140,000 pass-through Proposition 202 grant to support teen mental health programs by funding nonprofits associated with the Gila River Indian Community, including +TeenLifeline+. - ➤ Chandler is asking residents to nominate local veterans for a new recognition wall at the Field of Honor Veterans Memorial at Veterans Oasis Park — nominees must provide proof of service, proof of Southeast Valley residency, and a $50 donation to be considered. - ➤ Today, the City of Chandler is partnering with Waymo to add self-driving cars to the Chandler Flex service in the East Valley—offering limited-time rides for $1 instead of the usual $2 and marking the first known use of autonomous cars in a U.S. public transit network. 12 News
