EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Chandler High School cut chronic absenteeism from 31.9% to 26.6% after it launched a campus-wide attendance campaign that reached families early and removed barriers. Principal Greg Milbrandt said a focus on building strong relationships made the new approach work—helping students feel safe on campus. Chandler Independent
- ➤ Superintendent Jeremy Calles responded to allegations about student safety in the district—he said officials are reviewing protocols and planning measures to address the concerns. 12 News

- ➤ The City of Chandler invites residents, business owners and community members to a free event called ChandlerTalks: Dream BIG, build small at Chandler Center for the Arts on Oct. 15 — dinner is provided and speakers will explain how small-scale projects can help meet missing middle housing needs as part of the General Plan update, with feedback accepted through Dec. 1. - ➤ Chandler Councilmember Matt Orlando was named on Oct. 8 to join the debut Public Finance Network board—he is its first treasurer and will represent 19,000 communities while working with over 40 groups to protect municipal bonds used in local infrastructure projects. City of Chandler
- ➤ State transportation officials announced that the eastbound Loop 202 off-ramp at Arizona Avenue in Chandler will close for about 60 days starting at 11:30 p.m. today and reopen by mid-December—drivers are advised to use nearby exits at Alma School or McQueen roads. Officials also confirmed that the westbound Loop 202 off-ramp at Price Road reopened early Tuesday after a two month closure as part of the $200 million project to add lanes and improve interchanges.
