- ➤ Subaru Superstore of Chandler and the Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation will team up with local volunteers to pack 120 care packages for foster youth ages 18 to 26 in postsecondary programs on Tuesday, Nov. 11. The event is part of Subaru's Share the Love Campaign — it will include items such as holiday blankets, fuzzy socks, beanies, first aid kits, mini flashlights, snacks and letters from community members. - ➤ The new Mill Music Sessions live music series at Hayden Flour Mill will kick off on Oct. 24 with local bands Wyves + Banana Gun and Big Finish performing. The event will offer fresh local tunes and boost the area's music scene. Chandler Independent
- ➤ On Nov. 1, the Chandler Museum will host a full-day event partnering with the Japanese American National Museum to honor 125,284 persons incarcerated during World War II—featuring a taiko drumming performance at 9:30 a.m., lectures at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and opportunities for visitors to stamp the Ireichō in remembrance; the event is free and held at 300 S. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Chandler officials warned that a possible federal shutdown might impact over 800 local families—up to 515 households in the Housing Choice Voucher program and 303 in public housing—and potentially 16 city jobs, though reserves should cover a couple of months; council members also discussed upcoming utility rate hikes on March 2 to help pay for aging infrastructure and a narrowing budget gap.
