- ➤ Chandy’s Candies, a new candy shop that opened in July, held its grand-opening event in late October at the Casa Paloma shopping center in far west Chandler near AJ’s along Ray Road just east of I-10. The shop sells candy bars, boxed chocolates, candied nuts and caramels and is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. with Tuesday appointments only — closed on Sundays and Mondays. - ➤ Former U.S. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema testified at the October 15 Chandler Planning and Zoning Commission hearing on a proposed industrial AI data center near Intel’s Ocotillo Campus—she returned the next evening at a City Council meeting and warned that federal preemption could occur if the project by Active Infrastructure is not approved.
