CULTURE NEWS

  • An exhibition titled Rice is Mẹ: Anh-Thuy Nguyen—featuring works that explore cultural identity and memory through rice symbolism—will open at the Gallery at Chandler Center for the Arts from November 15 through February 7. The gallery will host a free opening reception tomorrow—Friday, November 14, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.—to introduce the display.  Chandler Independent
  • Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass will host its annual 'Storytelling & Song' program for resort and restaurant guests starting Nov. 18 until Feb. 14, 2026 from 6 to 7 p.m. — weather permitting — as tribal members share ancestral legends, personal stories, and traditional songs that honor the heritage of the Pima and Maricopa peoples.  Chandler Independent

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Chandler Unified's enrollment will continue to shrink as decreasing birth rates, high housing costs, and more charter and private schools reduce early-grade student numbers—district officials reviewed a report on Oct.22 by Applied Economics experts Rick Brammer and assistant Don Graves that confirmed the trend will persist in the coming years.  Chandler Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Chandler Economic Development Division is partnering with local education leaders to host Internship 101 for Businesses at the University of Arizona Downtown Chandler on Dec. 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.—a free lunch-and-learn event where employers will learn strategies to develop and enhance internship programs for future workforce growth.  City of Chandler

  • Marvin Harrison Jr. had surgery on Monday night for appendicitis and will miss Sunday's home game against the 49ers — he may need more time to recover. The Cardinals have signed another receiver from the practice squad and will rely on healthy players to compete.  12 News
