COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Chandler is working with local nonprofits and faith groups to help families this holiday season by setting up donation drives for food, unwrapped toys, and gifts at locations including Fire Stations and the Fire Administration Building—each with specific deadlines. Residents can support the effort by following guidelines for community programs like the Public Housing Site Bucks Store and the Golden Neighbors event, with contributions accepted from Nov. 25 through Dec. 14.  Chandler Arizonan

CULTURE NEWS

  • Chandler will host its 69th annual Tumbleweed Tree Lighting and Parade of Lights on Dec.6 at the Chandler Arts Center outside Arizona Avenue. The event will include performances starting at 4:30 p.m., a parade at 6:45 p.m. with floats, dancers & Santa on a firetruck, and officials advise arriving early due to planned road closures.  KTAR

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • SRP is draining and cleaning miles of canals—moving fish as part of an ongoing cleanup effort. The utility said the work will help maintain safe waterways for the community.  12 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Chandler has been designated a Dementia Friendly and Age-Friendly community to support residents with memory challenges and aging needs. The city joined the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities and formed a task force to develop a plan for improving transportation, housing and local services.  City of Chandler

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dignity Health and city officials held a groundbreaking at Chandler Regional Medical Center on Nov. 5 to begin building a new 100,000 square foot, 4-story ambulatory care tower—this facility will house an ambulatory surgery center, imaging center and multi-specialty practice while offering neurological, thoracic and rehabilitation care. The tower is expected to open in fall 2026—meeting the growing health needs of the East Valley.  Chandler Independent
  • Health officials are investigating an E. coli outbreak linked to the state fair that has sickened nearly 200 people—including a 17-year-old treated for hemolytic uremic syndrome after her visit on Halloween. Maricopa County and the Arizona Department of Health Services have issued advisories—warning that even a microscopic amount of the toxin can cause serious illness.  KJZZ

  • A local shopping expert says Chandler residents will save money this holiday season by choosing thrifted gifts—offering a way to support local charities with each purchase.  12 News
