Presenter : Master Gardener Jackie Peel

When Master Gardener Jackie Peel moved to the Phoenix area from Texas in 2021, she embraced the wonderfully diverse plant palette available to residents. She lived in several areas of Texas, and experienced plant-growing challenges of the Gulf Coast, hill country, and far west Texas. Her interest in horticulture led her to attend Texas A&M University, where she graduated in 1984, and later became a Texas Master Gardener. She became a docent with the Botanical Research Institute of Texas and spent most of her time in the herbarium and conducting tours. She worked for two large Dallas landscape companies as a designer and began her own landscape design company later. Jackie also taught horticultural classes at a local Texas community college. After relocating to Gilbert in 2021, Jackie explored how to grow plants in the desert. She designed her xeriscape front yard and now focuses on creating a colorful garden in her backyard.
