- ➤ Dr. James Heaton said his dental office recovered after a gas explosion on Aug. 26th, 2021 that hurt four men and ruined businesses at Sunset Plaza in West Chandler — his team worked from many locations for 10 months — and he now runs a teaching center on Kyrene Road and Chandler Boulevard that welcomes dentists from afar. - ➤ Hamilton High School’s girls basketball team was honored on April 8 at the Chandler Unified School District Governing Board meeting for winning its state title—finishing the season with 20 wins to 12 and a 56 to 54 overtime win against Gilbert High in the Class 6A final on March 8. The team earned the No. 3 seed by winning the Premier Region title—making it a strong contender for next season. Chandler Independent
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Anthony Paoletti, 8, a cancer survivor from Chandler, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at 3 ½ and celebrated finishing treatment in 2023 with a bell-ringing event; he served as the race starter at the 2024 Run to Fight Children’s Cancer (a local event) and now looks forward to attending this year’s race to support other kids.
