- ➤ Filmmaker Adam Finberg from Phoenix will debut his new movie Star People, a science-fiction thriller inspired by the 1997 Phoenix Lights, at Harkins Theatres in Scottsdale, Chandler and Peoria on July 25—filmed at several Arizona spots—and hopes the film brings fresh interest in a famed local mystery. The movie follows a woman who saw the strange lights as a child—an event that has long confused locals—and continues to spark ideas about unknown objects. 12 News

- ➤ Several Chandler-area students earned national recognition at the 2025 SkillsUSA Championships in Atlanta in late June. Cohen T. Crowder from Chandler-Gilbert Community College earned a bronze medal in facility management—Team A from the same college earned a silver medal, and Basha High School's Team N earned a gold medal in video news production.
