If you follow the Cardinals, here's the Sunday plan: Gardner Minshew II starts at Seattle. Coach Mike LaFleur confirmed Monday that rookie Carson Beck is the backup and Jacoby Brissett is the emergency third-stringer. Brissett is reportedly being traded to Baltimore.

Minshew got the job by rallying the Cardinals from 17-3 down against Dallas. Michael Wilson's tying 13-yard touchdown came with six seconds left, and Chad Ryland, who missed the extra point, won it with a 42-yard field goal in overtime, 33-30. Before the switch, Brissett had just 145 yards of total offense.

  • Cardinals' record: 3-5
  • Against Dallas: five straight wins, nine of the last 10
  • Beck: third-round pick, not yet active for a game

Wilson said Wednesday those offseason reps paid off: “we probably banked 500, 600 reps.” Tight end Trey McBride put it this way: “He’s prepared.”

The Cardinals' quarterback change plays out through the Nov. 10 trade deadline

  1. Nov. 1Minshew replaces Brissett at 17-3; Cardinals win 33-30 in overtime
  2. Nov. 2LaFleur confirms Minshew will start at Seattle, with Beck as backup
  3. Nov. 10NFL trade deadline; LaFleur did not commit to keeping Brissett past it
